Why are my ears ringing?

Not a diagnosis: a head start. These are the three drivers most worth checking first, based on what the evidence says gets missed most often.

01

The attention loop

Distress amplifies perception, which amplifies distress. Breaking the loop is the treatment with the best evidence.

02

Check the simple stuff

Wax, hearing loss and some medications (aspirin-class, some antibiotics) all cause or worsen it.

03

One-sided rules differ

One-sided tinnitus or with hearing change deserves proper ENT assessment.
